Biography

After several collaborations with the rising names of fashion (Cacharel or Missoni), Emmanuelle Khanh launched her eponymous brand of ready to wear for women in 1969.
She became the first designer to create Ready To Wear in France.

Emmanuelle Khanh soon became the iconic name of this sudden fashion revolution.
In 1977, the designer opens her first shop on the left bank of Paris, in the very chic Saint Germain des Près while the most important shops worldwide will be selling her creations. Over a few years, Emmanuelle Khanh definitely took part of the contemporary Fashion History.

With the strong conviction that fashion should go beyond the limits of the Parisian Bourgoisie, Emmanuelle Khanh thinks the fabrics differently, the shapes and the materials, in order to break the walls of the tradition, and bring her fashion down to the streets..

Soon, she becomes one of the leaders of this avant garde movement: The Ready to Wear. Being the first fashion designer using revolutionary materials like plastic or Denim jeans, she will make embroideries and knitwear her timeless and singular signature.

Despite her visionary sight, wearing glasses is therefore essential. Inevitably, she decides to turn them into a fashion accessory. She will develop an iconic oversized line of glasses in collaboration with Guillet workshops (in Oyonnax, Eastern France).

After the re-launching of an innovative and entirely Made in France eyewear line in 2009, the Maison Emmanuelle Khanh showed it’s first Ready To Wear collection for Winter 16 through a collaboration between Sam Attyé (the Fashion Creative Director of the brand) and Madame Emmanuelle Khanh herself.

Since a few seasons now, the brand succeeded on creating a new vision of the EK woman by playing with the original codes, and by always putting the accent on the comfort, and the feminine details.
The fabrics and materials are all selected and designed among premium manufactures in France and Italy, and every piece is produced between France and Portugal.

The oversized volumes, the several feminine details, the soft and deconstructed knitted pieces are some of the distinctive codes that contributed to build the DNA of the Maison.

Emmanuelle Khanh Paris will be showing it’s new Ready To Wear, Accessories and Eyewear collection for Summer 18, at the showroom MC2 in Paris on October 2017.
